Travellers onboard the first direct flight between the Top End and the Sunshine Coast touched down with Bonza at Sunshine Coast Airport to a breakfast showcasing some of the region’s finest products and produce.
Twice weekly flights, which take just over four hours each way, will connect the two holiday and leisure destinations as Darwin becomes the 11th direct Bonza service from the Sunshine Coast.
In its first 12 months, Bonza will have added more than 300,000 additional seats into the region.
Tourism Noosa CEO Sharon Raguse offered a warm welcome to the first visitors from Darwin.
“It is great news for our region to have the addition of the Darwin to Sunshine Coast flights from Bonza,” Sharon said. “Darwin will become an important link to our region, offering new opportunities for not only Northern Territory travellers but also providing easier connectivity and access for international visitors to visit our region.”
